The RPC-288 Porn Contest was a quasi-official contest hosted by CFOperator, then-owner of the RPC Authority, in July 2018. Although there were a few entries into this contest, there is no record of it occurring on the RPC Authority Wiki with only passing references remaining in the RPC Authority Discord. The only remaining evidence is a mention in a contemporaneous 4chan thread, one of the entries, and a meme made about the contest.
The RPC community, then and now, was generally ambivalent to hostile towards the contest. It is unknown what the prize for the contest was going to be, if any was ever offered. The contest also happened contemporaneously with the RPC Authority 001 contest, an abortive and failed attempt at selecting an article to be RPC-001. Both contests playing out the way they did were a contributing factor in CFO stepping down from his leadership role shortly after founding RPC, as this incident among many other caused the community to lose faith in his judgement and leadership.
Today, RPC-228 is known as RPC-228-ARC and it is no longer as well-remembered as it was in the early days of the RPC Authority community.
