Moto42

Moto42 is the author of SCP-173 and the creator of the SCP Foundation. He posted SCP-173 to the /x/ board of 4chan in June of 2007, but had no further involvement with the SCP Foundation beyond some sporadic contact with the writing community on Wikidot.

In-depth history of contributions

On June 22, 2007 at 1:40 AM, Moto42 (then going by the name S.S. Walrus) posted the original text of SCP-173 on the /x/ board of 4chan.[1]https://archive.md/QD9UF This original text lacked an object class and contained many spelling and grammatical errors (most of which were corrected in a reposting to the original thread).

A commentor claimed that SCP-173 was not “very well written” and that it sounded like an “official report.” In response, Moto42 stated:[2]https://archive.md/QD9UF

Sleep deprived first drafts tend to suck a bit.
It’s meant to sound like an official report, and I’ll admit that english grammar isn’t my strongest subject.
Thanks for all the positive responses.

This comment would be the last contribution Moto42 would make to the thread and to the SCP Foundation on 4chan.[3]As demonstrated by a mass archive of /x/ posts from 2006-2008 shows. Moto42 also confirmed that he made no further contributions beyond the original post. He had originally planned to make weekly SCP posts, but lost access to the Internet and interest in this idea.[4]Wow. I never expected this. – SCP Foundation (wikidot.com) (archive)

Moto42 would pop up again on July 30, 2008 when he made a post on the SCP Foundation Wikidot website introducing himself.[5]Wow. I never expected this. – SCP Foundation (wikidot.com) (archive) He would later re-emerge on October 27, 2013 to release SCP-173 under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 License.[6]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-76692/scp-173#post-1879587 (archive)

Moto42’s last SCP related activity occurred on May 23, 2015, when he made an upvote to SCP-850. This is Moto42’s only known vote on Wikidot. [7]Moto42 – ScpperDB (archive.org) [8]It is possible that Moto42 made additional votes to pages that were deleted before the creation of ScpperDB, but there is no evidence of this having occurred.

Observer status
In general, Moto42 has been content to observe the SCP Foundation from a distance. He has repeatedly expressed his approval of the series and has frequently compared SCP-173 and the SCP series to a seed and a magnificent garden, respectively.[9]Wow.
