The Omniverse Penitentiary^[1] is a containment fiction project based on a subreddit which documents the fictional eponymous prison and the things it contains from various dimensions and universes. It was created on February 3rd 2014 and has a combination of original content and pop culture imports from other forms of media. It does not contain anything resembling a -J category, with humorous and deadpan content being hosted on the same feed.

The format, referred to as “containment reports”, is as follows:

[Prisoner File] XYZ-12345-AB

Name: Name of the prisoner

Universe: Place/media/franchise the prisoner came from

Bio: Biographical information

Containment Protocol: How to keep the prisoner in prison.

In case of breach: What to do if it escapes.

This is also the first documented use of the phrase “containment protocols” as the primary vector of describing the process of containment, predating the terms more well-known use by the RPC Authority.

The Omniverse Penitentiary was most active between 2014 and 2016, with activity trailing off after that and the subreddit page being mostly inactive as of 2021.
