far2 is a Wikidot user and early contributor to the SCP Foundation Wiki. He joined the platform in July 2008 and was among the first moderators of the site.[1]https://www.wikidot.com/user:info/far2 He is remembered for the creation of both the SCP Foundation logo and its motto “Secure. Contain. Protect.”
History
far2 is credited with designing the original SCP Foundation emblem. This design became a recognizable symbol for the community and was later re-rendered in higher resolution by other contributors.
He also coined the SCP Foundation’s motto: “Secure. Contain. Protect.” and created the earliest “kayfabe”-style document for SCP articles while on Wikidot (“.pdf”).[2]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-97462/scp-encyclopedia#post-284808[3]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-98606/scp-pdf[4]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-98911/power#post-288697
far2 was also an avid photoshop artist and contributed many early images for SCPs on the site, as well as logos for the initial SCP Foundation front companies.[5]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-77608/scp-pictures[6]http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-fronts/comments/show[7]http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-89371/foundation-emblem-or-logo[8]http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-177020/getcha-shoops-here[9]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/far2-s-disciplinary-report
Technical and Administrative Work
In the transition from EditThis to Wikidot in mid-2008, far2 played a key role in transferring existing SCP articles.[10]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-76576/infos#post-227832[11]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/history-of-the-universe-part-one He additionally worked on site defense during the HAGGAR spam attacks, maintained parts of the site’s CSS styling, created core structural pages for the wiki, and established early coding modules for the site such as the use of [[include]] for SCP article images.[12]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-98402/dang-it-far2[13]http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-100065/return-of-the-return-of-hagger-thread[14]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-98329/glad-i-missed#post-287144[15]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-79885/adding-to-the-standard-of-pages[16]http://far2.wikidot.com/keterbox[17]http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/archived:proposals-for-scp-001/comments/show[18]http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-97786/delete-and-edit[19]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-572159/a-next-button[20]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-96238/what-are-we-up-to-now
far2 was made into a moderator of the site after his work in combating the HAGGAR attacks. He is listed as a moderator of the SCP Application Wikidot, which was the site’s first and outdated method for membership applications.[21]https://www.wikidot.com/user:info/far2, “Moderator of”
Legacy
far2 is remembered as a foundational figure in the SCP community. His contributions to the site’s graphic identity, technical infrastructure, and creative writing helped establish early norms and aesthetics. Although his activity declined after 2009, his influence persists in the SCP Wiki’s emblem and early works.[22]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/history-of-the-universe-part-one[23]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/history-of-the-universe-part-four[24]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/history-of-the-universe-part-five
Works
far2 authored 3 SCP articles, one of which was converted to a tale. These works reflect early SCP writing conventions, focusing on everyday objects with anomalous properties and conceptual anomalies.

Quotes
“Same here. The insomnia’s after kicking in with a vengeance, so I wrote a script to pull (slowly, one article per minute) the untransferred scp’s from the old site, parse it into the new wiki format (changing ”’ to **, changing [[link]] to link, that kinda thing), and save them to a file. I’ll upload them manually, once I’ve checked them to make sure they’re 100% as they should be. If it works, and if nobody has any objections, I might transfer over the discussion pages too, time allowing.”[29]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-76576/infos#post-227832
“I vote for Organisation because it’ll upset Americans ‘cos it’s not spelled with a ‘z’.”[30]http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-76752/foundation-or-organisation
“I give a positive rating if I like something, but I don’t usually give negative ratings unless it’s truly dire.”[31]http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-79710/ratings
“Well, I whipped up an example of the 4th one, the multi-page PDF. It’s here if anyone feels like checking it out. Personally, I think it looks more… menacing in that format, more serious and hidden. Feel free to ignore the logo in the top left, I just felt it needed a little something to begin with.”[32]http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-97462/scp-encyclopedia
“I should probably point out that “Secure. Contain. Protect.” isn’t an official motto of the organisation, it’s just something I added to the logo mockup for the template. Who knows what their true goal is?”[33]http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-98911/power
“I used [the SCP Foundation logo] to make it look like the ‘shield’ or badge used by law-enforcement agencies, and also because the arrows indicate moving inward – containing the threats.”[34]http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-89371/foundation-emblem-or-logo
“So, why settle for a single 001, when we can have many? Different one every 60 seconds, and it would maintain the appearance that it’s a legit entry.”[35]http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/archived:proposals-for-scp-001/comments/show
“I think the problem here is that, since so many of us are from 4chan, any girls who may be around will assume that if they speak up, they’ll be told “tits or GTFO”.”[36]http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-100271/how-many-girls-are-out-there
“I’ve created a page with the lowest rated articles on it. At the moment, the lowest rated page is SCP-122, with a rating of -3. The rating page is here: lowest-rated-pages.”[37]http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-97786/delete-and-edit
“To be perfectly honest, that’s basically what it is. It’s an idea I’d had for a short story, and I just rewrote it to fit the format of the SCP.” (on “The Recording”, previously SCP-235)[38]http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/the-recording/comments/show
“Anyway, I’m not the original author. I’m only first in the history because I transferred it over from the old site. I have no idea who the original author is or was.”[39]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-118537/scp-093#post-387936
“I, for one, am not overly bothered. The cc-by-sa is a fair license in my opinion. I’ve only authored two scp articles, and done a few images, but as far as I’m concerned, do what you like with them so long as it’s within the terms of the license. I obviously can’t speak for other authors, but I haven’t seen a single copyright disclaimer on any of the 350+ articles on this site. Nobody’s here for profit.”[40]http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-83533/copyright-status
Trivia
-
far2’s username was originally derived from “far too drunk for this”.[41]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/history-of-the-universe-part-one
-
He left the SCP Wiki around late 2008 or early 2009.[42]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/history-of-the-universe-part-five
-
far2’s logo design was designed for an in-universe mock-up pseudo-governmental document. The template can be seen on the .pdf, which can be downloaded as a zip file here. Included in the zip file is the original SCP Fondation logo (see above image). It was run through a photocopier filter on photoshop, and included in the mock-up.
-
far2 used SCP-682 as the example mock-up for his .pdf.
-
Many Series 1 SCPs were converted to far2’s .pdf template format and are still available for viewing in .zip files here.
-
In regards to the logo, he wrote “Feel free to ignore the logo in the top left, I just felt it needed a little something to begin with.” The SCP Foundation emblem designed by him remains the most widely used version of the logo in the community.[43]https://logos-world.net/scp-logo/[44]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SCP_Foundation
-
far2 created the SCP Foundation logo using elements from Adobe Illustrator’s “Mad Science” stock assets, ran through the photocopy filter on Photoshop.[45]https://logos-world.net/scp-logo/[46]http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-98606/scp-pdf[47]http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-89371/foundation-emblem-or-logo[48]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-248111/far2-s-disciplinary-report

far2 is inaccurately attributed as the author of a numerous SCPs, per Wikidot and various database scrapers. This is because he ported many from EditThis (e.g. SCP-058).[49]e.g. https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-058/[50]https://crom.avn.sh/aviary/user?on=wikidot&name=far2[51]https://scpper.com/user/172904

His first SCP was a non-viable version of SCP-235.[52]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-77409/new-scp-announcements#post-230071[53]https://web.archive.org/web/20080811041633/https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-235 Per far2, it was authored as a traditional narrative story and the SCP format was appended to it as an after-thought. Initial reviews of the SCP noted this informal tone, stating it was not faithful enough to the clinical presentation of the Foundation. It was eventually converted to a tale by site administration in 2010.[54]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-77599/the-recording[55]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/the-recording, rev. 6[56]https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/forum/t-77599/the-recording#post-909229
